Harmony House was a central part of village life having been a reading room, Sunday School and the rear,a former village post office. It bears the characteristics of the old property, with part of it dating back to the 17th century. It has however been renovated to accommodate a modern day lifestyle. We have been awarded 4 stars from Quality in Tourism standards inspection.


The Poppy Room

Situated in the rear wing with en suite shower room and a walk in wardrobe. It can be a twin or king size bedded room with orthapedic mattresses. The open beams dating from the 17th century add character to the room, yet it has been tastefully modernized. It is equipped with a desk, flat screen television, freeview, Radio, mini fridge with fresh milk, complimentary water and fruit juice, hairdryer. The hospitality tray has tea, coffees, chocolates, herbal teas, and homemade biscuits. If staying more than one night we will leave you homemade cakes for your afternoon tea. when you return. We furnish the bathrooms with 100% Aloe Vera products.


The Lilac Room A double room overlooking the village green which has again been tastefully modernized with an en suite shower room. The bedroom is equipped with flat screen television,freeview, radio, hairdryer, mini fridge with water ; juice and hospitality tray equal to the Poppy Room.


There is also a bathroom on the landing with a claw footed bath, which is available for guests who prefer to relax in the bath after a busy day.



Our Guests are welcome to use the lounge which has a digital television, large bay windows overlooking the Green, and a log fire in winter. There is a bench outside to sit and take in the sunshine to enjoy the tranquility of the village, and also a bench in the porch for cooler days.



Harmony House is a non smoking establishment throughout and has a sensitive linked fire alarm system. Wireless internet is throughout the house and a PC/workstation, fax machine, iron and ironing board available for use on request. If you would prefer sheets and blankets instead of duvets, please ask at the time of booking.



A full English breakfast is served in the dining room each morning using local produce,and we have the Great Yorkshire Breakfast accolade. We do have lighter alternatives on the menu such as smoked haddock, croissant with tomatoes, bacon and field mushrooms or scrambled or poached eggs on toast or muffins. We offer cereals, fruit salads, yogurts, mixed toasts and a have variety of danish pastries, croissants, bagels available on request. Should you have a special diet please advise us when booking to ensure we can procure the ingredients.



Dinner is offered on Monday through to Thursday subject to availability. If dinner is unavailable we can provide homemade soup & a sandwich, afternoon tea,wraps or paninis should you not wish to go out. A list is available on the menus page Unfortunately we cannot accept children in the house but are happy to accommodate families in our cottage annex
