Harmony House lounge

Harmony House stands facing the village green in the centre of the pretty village of Stillingfleet. The house has an interesting history and has always played a central part of village life.    It has been a reading room, a Sunday school,  and the rear of the house were agricultural cottages and a former village post office.

Some parts of Harmony House date back to the 17th century. It has however been renovated to accommodate a modern day lifestyle. Our bed & breakfast accommodation  in the house has 4 stars and a silver award from Quality in Tourism standards inspection and we furnish the bathrooms with 100% Aloe Vera products.

The Poppy Room

In the rear wing of Harmony House the poppy room has an en suite shower room and a walk in wardrobe. The room can be adapted into a twin or king size bedded room either option have orthopaedic mattresses. The open beams in this pretty room date from the 17th century. The poppy room is equipped with a flat screen television with freeview, radio and hairdryer.

The mini fridge has fresh milk, complimentary water and fruit juice and your complimentary tray comes with tea, coffees, chocolates, herbal teas, and homemade biscuits. Stay with us for more than one night and enjoy homemade cakes for your afternoon tea.  

The Lilac Room 

The lilac room is double bedded room with memory foam mattress.  This room which overlooks the village green has been carefully modernised with an en suite shower room. The bedroom has a flat screen television with freeview, radio, hairdryer and a mini fridge stocked with water and juice.  Your complimentary tray comes with tea, coffees, chocolates, herbal teas, and homemade biscuits. If you prefer to relax in the bath after a busy day, there is also a bathroom on the landing with a claw footed bath.  

Harmony House is a family home but our guests have their own lounge to use which has a digital television, large bay windows and overlooks the village green. We have a log fire in winter and outside a bench to sit on and take in the sunshine and tranquillity of the village. There is a bench in the porch for cooler days.

Harmony House is a non smoking establishment throughout and has a sensitive linked fire alarm system. Wireless internet is throughout the house and a PC/workstation, fax machine, iron and ironing board are all available on request. If you would prefer sheets and blankets instead of duvets, please ask when you book.

A full English breakfast is served in the dining room every morning and where possible we use local produce.  If you prefer we have lighter alternatives to traditional English breakfasts, such as smoked haddock, croissant with tomatoes, bacon and field mushrooms or scrambled or poached eggs on toast or muffins, also pancakes  or eggs benedict.  We also offer cereals, fruit salads, yogurts, mixed toasts and a have variety of Danish pastries, croissants, bagels available on request. If you have a special diet please let us know when you book to make sure we meet your needs.

Dinner is also available on Monday through to Thursday, subject to availability. In the unlikely event we cannot provide a meal, homemade soup & a sandwich, afternoon tea, wraps or paninis are available. A list is available on request

Dinner parties for friends and family are available at  weekends. Accommodation in the whole house can be booked for you all as a small group, and invite friends or family who live locally to join you for dinner.Minimum 6 persons  

Hilary trained at the cordon bleu school of cookery and worked in the catering industry for many years before setting up Harmony House bed and breakfast and Harmony House Cookery School.

 Unfortunately we cannot take children under the age of 14 years in the house but are happy to accommodate  younger families in our cottage annex.

Chicken liver parfait with caramelised onion chutney and Melba toast

Chicken breast stuffed with ham, leek and cream mousse or orange pesto, wrapped in pancetta and served with a mushroom or tomato and red pepper sauce

Salmon steak en croute with a white wine veloute or baked with a topping of chilli, ginger, spring onion and coriander set on a bed of leeks or green beans

Pork steaks with mushrooms, bacon lardons and a Marsala sauce

Pork fillet with orange, apricots and port

Pork or beef stroganoff served on a bed of rice

Beef bourguignon or coq au vin

All served with a selection of seasonal vegetables
